Neighborhood Guide: West Hollywood (WeHo)

Neighborhood Guide for West Hollywood, Los Angeles

The popular, stylish and in some parts- even glamorous neighborhood of West Hollywood is only 1.9 square miles but is packed full of excitement.  WeHo (as it is referred by locals) is roughly bordered by Sunset Boulevard to the north and Melrose Avenue to the south.  It sits just east of Beverly Hills and west of downtown Hollywood and is home to the Sunset Strip, one of the most well known streets in the United States.  West Hollywood is a must see for any Los Angeles traveler with all-night entertainment and world class shopping & restaurant destinations.

For family style dining, try a meal at the world famous Saddle Ranch Chophouse.  Enjoy traditional American fair or grab a drink at one of three full service bars.  You might even take a ride on one of the mechanical bulls if you are feeling adventurous.

If you love sushi, Nobu is the go to place for locals and celebrities. The elegant bar lounge at this restaurant is a Hollywood hangout and you don’t want to miss the seabass jalapeno miso or wagyu tacos.

No trip would be complete without a visit to Dan Tana’s Restaurant.  This Hollywood institution has been serving up New York steak, veal parmigiana, and more for over 50 years.

If entertainment is what you seek, try The Comedy Store for a side splitting good time.  Many of today’s well known comedians began their stellar careers at this location, where new comedians have been discovered for over 40 years. Don’t be surprised to find one of your favorites dropping by the stage unannounced.

Shop for current designer fashions– or just people watch along the Melrose District.  Peruse higher price boutiques or comb through the selection at a variety of vintage markets. The parade of boutiques, eateries, and venues make this a favorite spot for WeHo residents.

A center for arts and culture, West Hollywood is home to the Pacific Design Center, designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli.  Here you can find the Museum of Contemporary Art as well as regularly scheduled events.
