Neighborhood Guide: The Bird Streets

Neighborhood Guide for The Bird Streets area of Los Angeles

Bird is the word.  North of Sunset, the neighborhood known as The Bird Streets has become the most desirable location for real estate in West Hollywood. Many homes have unobstructed views of the city and the ocean while still being within easy travel distance from major studios, great shopping, and all that the Sunset Strip has to offer.

Celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew Perry, Tobey Maguire, Jodie Foster, and more have all taken up residence in The Bird Streets.  Many of them are building entirely new homes on existing properties.  Properties with amazing views can fetch as much as $7 million for a tear-down building.

While The Bird Streets are a mostly residential neighborhood, it lies only minutes north of the west end of Sunset Strip with its wonderful variety of restaurants and entertainment.

The State Social Housebills itself as the neighborhood gastropub and features live music several nights a week.  If you are seeking a spot to enjoy a fine cigar with your cocktail, The Back Room smoker’s lounge features a range of cigars and tobacco.

For an iconic Sunset Strip visual, head to Mel’s Drive-In.  The neon lights and Googie architecture will make you feel like you’ve been transported back to the ‘50s and ‘60s. Grab a burger and a milkshake or a slice of double-crusted pie.

The members-only SoHo House provides a bar, roof garden, screening room and more for local members.

If you are looking for entertainment, The Bird Streets’ location near Sunset Strip means you will be only minutes away from some of the most iconic locales in West Hollywood.

Formally owned by Johnny Depp, The Viper Room was an infamous hotspot for celebrities and musicians.  The Viper Room still hosts bands nightly.

If you don’t like the lineup at The Viper Room, head down to The Roxy Theater, site of dozens of famous performances from bands like Guns ‘n’ Roses, Frank Zappa, and U2.

Maybe the most famous of these three venues, Whisky a Go Gohas hosted The Doors, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and more.

If you are interested in living in this area of West Hollywood, we can show you some beautiful properties north of Sunset, such as 8800 Appian Way – located high on a ridge and providing a panoramic view of Los Angeles, Downtown, the ocean and more.
