We are quickly coming up on the games in Rio, and everyone is thrilled to for the competition to start. I am even more excited for this year’s games after hearing NBC’s choice of song to promote the games.
Katy Perry’s song paired with the inspiring footage of the athletes makes me wish the games started today! To pass the time, I am sharing my recommendations for the best LA bars to watch the competition this year.
Barney’s Beanery sports more than 60 HD TV’s, more than 200 beers, over 700 menu items, and any kind of seating you could want. Hit up any one of their seven locations to watch the events; they even have a bar in the LAX terminal if you are watching coverage in between flights.
For a slightly more refined experience, head to The Parlor on Melrose. You can enjoy artisanal cocktails and comfort food while watching one of their over 50 televisions. Plan on meeting friends after work on Friday to hit up their extended happy hour.
The Bunker Hill Bar & Grill is tucked away in the heart of the financial district, which makes it the perfect spot for a quick lunch with an eye on the games. Order some sushi and a cold one, and catch up on the latest medal count.
It seems a bit on the nose to head to the Olympic Collections facility to watch the games, but that’s where you will find the excellent sports bar, Butcher’s Dog. The British-inspired pub has fewer televisions than the other options on this list, but the modern bar menu makes up for it.
If it’s not a sports bar without ribs, then get over to Bludso’s Bar & Que. The traditional Southern barbecue is slow smoked over real hardwood and served along traditional sides like cornbread and collard greens. There are plenty of TVs to keep you focused on the games, but you may be too busy licking your fingers to notice.
Where will you be watching the games this August? Did your favorite sports bar make the list? If not, please leave you recommendation in the comments! We are always looking for more hot spots to add to the best LA bars list!
