Award Show Venues in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is home to many industry award shows, but the GRAMMYs, Golden Globes, and Oscars are easily the most famous. These three prominent entertainment industry award shows are hosted by three equally illustrious venues right here in LA.
The Academy Awards – Dolby Theater
Since 2002, the Dolby Theater on Hollywood has been home to the most prestigious award show in the US. The Oscars take place inside the gorgeous cherrywood and silver-leafed theater each year. Winners ascend the steps, some more successfully than others, to receive their award on the enormous main stage. It is a huge, sumptuous theater fitting for the reputation of the Academy.
The Golden Globes – The Beverly Hilton
The Golden Globes has much more of a party vibe than the Oscars, and the Beverly Hilton is perfectly suited for this show. Celebs make use of the hotel’s private suites to prep for the awards, and one of the large ballrooms for the award show after-parties. The Ballroom where the awards are held is significantly smaller than the Dolby, making the show feel more intimate and friendly.
The GRAMMY Awards – Staples Center
For the first 30 years of its existence, the GRAMMYs traded coasts from year to year. The awards were held in New York City one year and Los Angeles the next. It wasn’t till the late ’90s that the awards show moved permanently to Los Angeles and the Staples Center. Rumor has it that the show will return to New York for the 2018 awards, and then return to the Staples Center in the years following.
Awards season is a busy and exciting time in Los Angeles with these venues located conveniently near Hollywood and all of your favorite celebrities. Which of these awards shows is your favorite to watch? And, if you were to attend just one show, which would you choose?
